CLUTCH - Austin, TX - Jan. 10th, 2015 - Fresh Dope sign

Clutch has been an absolute favorite of mine since one of my friend Steve in high school first turned me on to them around the time Transnational Speedway League came out. We proceeded to see them every chance we got over the next few years. They’d open for  Sepultura, play with Biohazard, Prong, Tad and many others and we saw them all. They never disappointed and the albums only got bigger and broader. I never stopped listening to them or seeing them live and they’ve never disappointed in person or on record. So, when we got the chance to work with them on a gig poster we jumped at the chance. Something about a vintage tobacco sign connected with me and I thought it went well with the band. It’s very American (even Southern), timeless, classic, blue collar and gritty. These are some of the things I relate to Clutch. When it came to the “Whenever It Feels Right!” slogan on the poster, I just thought it sounded like one of the old tobacco slogans, like “Alive with Pleasure!” Anyway, I really liked the visual and so did the Clutch camp. We worked hard to get these done for the show and ended up doing a few variations. The details are listed in the DETAILS tab. Enjoy.
